Constitutional Gems - # 812 - 03-24-2008

Good News Club v. Milford Central School

I thought it would be good to have more information on this case before the Supreme Court. You can go to FindLaw for a very good explanation of the case.

The big issue from my personal view is the question of how far was the Establishment Clause meant to go? Does the prayer of a government official constitute an establishment of religion? Does having church services or public prayers on public property establish a religion if it is open to all religions? How was religions dealt with in the early days of our republic after the establishment of our Constitution?
