Historical Tidbit: On July 4, 1776 members of the Second Continental Congress adopted what is known today as America’s Declaration of Independence. John Hancock was the first to sign this unique document which would become a "Beacon of Freedom" to the world’s oppressed and enslaved. It would be the first of America’s three unique Foundational Documents, believed by the Founders to have been inspired by the Lord himself, to free the world’s enslaved. The second document, America’s Constitution, would follow after 11 years of war and internal chaos, almost anarchy, in September 1787. The third document following on December 15, 1791 – the First Ten Amendments, or as we know them today – America’s Bill of Rights. Two Questions: Do American’s today really comprehend what these three Foundational Documents mean to the freedoms they enjoy today? What would the world be like today without these three documents of Freedom?
